Hoprigshiels Windfarm is a 3-turbine scheme near Cockburnspath in the Scottish Borders. It has been developed by Berwickshire Community Renewables LLP, a partnership between Berwickshire Housing Association and Community Energy Scotland. All the profits from the generation of renewable power from the windfarm are shared between these two charities, allowing Berwickshire Housing Association to invest in much-needed new homes for social rent in the area, and helping Community Energy Scotland to support community groups across the country to develop new renewable energy projects.
This blog has been created to document the process of construction and to help keep members of the local community informed about progress and on issues like traffic movements to the site. We also hope to showcase some of the new innovative technologies being used to help connect the project to the grid, and some of the work we are doing in the local area to screen the site and enhance habitats for wildlife in the area.
